SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Brigham Young junior forward Elise Flake has been named the West Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Flake scored the goals in both of BYU’s conference-opening weekend games, giving the Cougars wins against Gonzaga and Portland to become the first WCC team to earn two wins.
Flake opened the scoring in the sixth minute against Gonzaga to power the Cougars to a 3-1 win Thursday. She then scored the game-winner in Saturday’s 3-0 win against Portland, tallying the first goal in the match in the 55
th minute of play.
Her two goals came on just seven shots in 129 minutes played on the weekend.
