SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for November 19, 2018.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JAMES BATEMON, SR., G – LOYOLA MARYMOUNT
Jamaica Classic Tournament MVP James Batemon has led Loyola Marymount University to their first 5-0 start since 2003-2004. The Lions had a 3-0 week capped by Batemon’s performance in the Jersey Mike’s Jamaica Classic to secure the Montego Bay Division Title for LMU. Batemon was the leading scorer in all three wins this week and averaged over 21.3 ppg, 6.0 assists, 4.6 rpg, and 38.6 mpg during those games.
On Monday against CSUN, Batemon James Batemon hit his first points/assists double-double of the season with strong second half. After intermission the senior scored 14 of his game-high 21 points and added seven of his game-high 10 assists. Batemon went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the second half.
Batemon provided the second half spark yet again in the program’s first-ever win over Georgetown on Friday at the Jamaica Classic. Batemon scored 22 of his 27 points in the second half to complete the comeback, including posting a perfect 13-for-13 mark from the free throw line and tying his career-high with eight rebounds.
In the first-ever matchup between LMU and Ohio, Batemon once again led the way with a team-high 16 points and five assists, to secure the victory.
