SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Portland forward Alex Fowler has been named the West Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Fowler averaged 23.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting .760 from the field in games against CSUN and Air Force.
On Thursday during a close loss at CSUN, Fowler poured in 27 points and corralled nine rebounds. Fowler connected on 10-of-13 field goals against the Matadors. Fowler then concluded the road trip with a 20-point performance as the Pilots pulled away from Air Force, winning 72-56 on Saturday. In her first season with the Pilots, Fowler is averaging team highs of 18.2 points and 8.5 boards per game, and she’s shooting .658 from the floor.
Saturday’s win at Air Force improved Portland’s record to 5-1 on the year.
