Men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball schedules unveiled

SAN MATEO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has unveiled the men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball conference schedules that will be contested in early 2021.

Following the postponement of the fall seasons in these three sports on Aug. 13 due the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Conference office worked in consultation with the membership to develop modified schedules that align with the NCAA’s new regular-season start dates and championships in 2021. The NCAA moved championships in all fall sports to the spring of 2021.

The WCC volleyball season will begin January 26 and run through March 27. The modified nine-week schedule will remain a double round-robin format. Games will be contested on Tuesdays and Wednesdays against the same opponent in the first five weeks of the season and move to a Friday-Saturday schedule against the same opponent for the final four weeks of the schedule. Matches contested on back-to-back days will be held at the same venue, outside of the week where each school faces its travel partner (USF-Santa Clara, BYU-San Diego, Gonzaga-Portland, Pacific-Saint Mary’s, LMU-Pepperdine). Matches against travel partners will move to the other team’s venue on the second day of competition that week.

The NCAA Volleyball Championship will consist of a 48-team bracket this season. Selections for the tournament will occur on April 4, culminating with the Final Four on April 22 and 24 in Omaha, Nebraska. The WCC’s regular-season champion will earn the conference’s automatic qualification to the tournament. San Diego captured the 2019 WCC regular-season crown with a 17-1 conference mark. The Toreros and BYU each earned NCAA bids last season.

The WCC will conduct a modified nine-week women’s soccer schedule with games each Saturday from February 20 through April 17.

The NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship will consist of 48-team bracket this season. Selections for the tournament will occur April 18, culminating with the Women’s College Cup May 13-17. The WCC’s regular-season champion will earn the conference’s automatic qualification to the tournament. BYU captured the regular-season crown in 2019 with an 8-0-1 mark. The Cougars, Pepperdine and Santa Clara each earned NCAA bids last season. BYU advanced to the elite eight of the 2019 tournament.

The WCC will conduct a modified seven-week men’s soccer schedule from February 28 through April 11. Matches will be held on Sundays in six of the seven weeks, while each team will square off on Saturday during the week of Easter.

The NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship will consist of a 36-team bracket this season. Selections for the tournament will occur on April 18, culminating with the Men’s College Cup May 13-17. The WCC’s regular-season champion will earn the conference’s automatic qualification to the tournament. Saint Mary’s captured the 2019 regular-season crown with a perfect 7-0 conference mark. Both the Gaels and LMU earned NCAA bids last season.
