SAN MATEO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its University Credit Union Men’s Basketball Player and Freshman of the Week for February 1, 2021. 
 
UCU #WCCHOOPS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – DREW TIMME, SO., F – GONZAGA
Sophomore forward Drew Timme averaged 20 points in two more wins for unbeaten No. 1 Gonzaga this past week. His 40 points came on off an impressive 15-of-22 shooting from the field (68.2 percent). The sophomore added 13 boards in the victories, along with five assists, two steals and a block. He was also 10-of-14 from the free-throw line. Timme played 28 minutes in both games.
 
Timme is second in the conference averaging 18.7 points per game and fifth grabbing 6.88 rebounds per outing. He leads the league shooting 62 percent from the field, and is fourth inside-the-arc at 62.8 percent.
 
This is the second weekly honor for Timme this season and the first since Nov. 30. No. Gonzaga has accumulated eight of 10 player and freshman awards in 2020-21.

UCU #WCCHOOPS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – JALEN SUGGS, FR., G – GONZAGA
Suggs helped get the top-ranked Zags a pair of road victories at San Diego and Pepperdine. The freshman scored 17 points in the win at USD Thursday, making 5-of-9 from the field, including 3-of-4 from behind-the-arc. He dished out three assists and made three steals as well. Suggs also pulled down six boards at San Diego. 
 
Suggs leads the West Coast Conference in steals per game at 2.27. He was fifth dishing out 4.53 assists per outing. The West Saint Paul, Minn., native, is sixth in the league shooting 51.4 percent from the field, averaging 13.47 points per game.
 
This is the seventh freshman of the week honor for Suggs so far this season and the eighth in 10 weeks for the Bulldogs.
