USD's Pace Selected as Senior CLASS Award Candidate

The senior guard is among 60 men's and women's basketball student-athletes on the candidate list

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Senior guard Myah Pace is among the 60 men's and women's basketball student-athletes who have been selected as candidates for the 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award, the organization announced today. She is one of only two women's basketball athletes to represent the West Coast Conference.

To be eligible for the award, a scholar-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

"Being nominated for the Senior CLASS Award is a great honor for Myah," said head coach Cindy Fisher. "She has excelled and achieved great success in all four categories. We are so proud of her and how well she has represented the University of San Diego and the West Coast Conference."

Pace's accomplishments transcend the basketball court as the all-time single-season steals leader as worked to create impact in her community. She currently serves as the SAAC Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee chair, is a member of the Black Student Union, the Black Engineering society and has worked with nonprofits throughout her time at San Diego.

In the classroom, Pace has been honored for her academic work as a WCC All-Academic Team honoree carrying a 3.7 GPA.

The men's and women's basketball candidates will be narrowed to two fields of ten finalists in late February and those names will be placed on the official ballot.

The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 20201 Final Four this spring.
