SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Santa Clara took down No. 7 Portland, 1-0, on Friday night and the Broncos swept the West Conference Men’s Soccer weekly awards on Monday. Adem Hamdaoua collected University Credit Union WCC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second straight week, while his teammate, Jack Stoecker, was named the University Credit Union WCC Defensive Player of the Week.

Hamdaoua found the back of the net in the 35th minute for the difference in the contest, as Santa Clara improved to 2-0 in WCC play, while handing Portland its first conference loss. He rocketed in a shot from 23 yards out. In all, the senior had four shots, including three on goal. It was Hamdaoua's fourth goal of the season. All four of them have come from at least 20 yards out.

UNIVERSITY CREDIT UNION WCC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JACK STOECKER, JR., GK – SANTA CLARA
Stoecker led a Santa Clara defense that posted a shutout against one of the nation’s most potent offenses in Portland. The Pilots entered the game leading in the nation at 3.25 goals per game. The Bronco goalie had five saves in the match to help keep the Pilots off the board for just the second time this season.
This was Hamdaoua’s second weekly award in as many weeks and the Broncos’ third weekly award this season with Stoecker’s honor this week.
