SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – West Coast Conference Commissioner Stu Jackson has named Kayla Lothian the WCC’s Assistant Commissioner for Compliance and Governance.
 
Lothian will manage the WCC’s compliance services and support governance operations, ensuring Conference operations comply with NCAA policy. She will serve as the liaison to the WCC’s Academics and Governance Cabinet as well as the Compliance Director’s Advisory Group. Lothian will also serve as a sport administrator.  
  
“Kayla brings a wealth of experience as a manager, leading compliance services,” said WCC Commissioner Stu Jackson. “We are excited to have her join our team as an assistant commissioner to manage our compliance operations and support our governance process to help enhance the student-athlete experience across our membership.”
 
Lothian has served as a collegiate athletics administrator in compliance for eight years. She joins the WCC after working the last three years as the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator at Dominican University of California.
 
While at Dominican, Lothian managed all aspects of NCAA, institutional and conference compliance rules and legislations, as well as coach, student-athlete and department compliance education. She monitored compliance measures through recruiting, competition and practice processes, along with the development of compliance materials and the coordination of all external reports required by the NCAA. Lothian also served on the NCAA Legislative Committee and the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee for women’s golf. She was a sport administrator for Dominican’s men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s track & field, and women’s soccer programs.
 
Prior to her time at Dominican, Lothian served as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Services and Senior Woman Administrator at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. Her duties at Notre Dame de Namur included eligibility verification as well as assisting the athletics director in creating and monitoring financial aid and sports budgets.
 
She began her career as a graduate assistant in the compliance department at the University of Northern Colorado.
  
Lothian earned a master’s degree in sports administration from Northern Colorado and a second master’s degree in athletics administration from Central Washington University. In addition, she received a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from CWU. 
 
Lothian’s first day with the WCC will be Feb. 5.
