SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – For the second straight week, Jonathan Mogbo of San Francisco won Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. San Diego's Kevin Patton Jr. notched 16 points in two straight games to earn CU1 WCC Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week honors.
CREDIT UNION 1 WCC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JONATHAN MOGBO, JR., F – SAN FRANCISCO
Mogbo recorded two more double-doubles for San Francisco last week as he powered the Dons to two Conference wins. On Thursday, Mogbo logged his eighth double-double of the year with 19 points and 11 rebounds, along with seven assists and two steals during USF's 83-63 road win at San Diego. Two days later, the junior followed with 18 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and a steal in USF's 96-69 win over Portland on Saturday. Overall, he went 16-for-22 from the floor last week, which included going a perfect 8-for-8 from the field against the Toreros. Not only is this the second straight week that Mogbo claimed CU1 WCC Player of the Week honors, but this also marks the third time in the last four weeks that a Don has captured the award (Malik Thomas, Dec. 26).

Patton Jr. recorded 16 points in back-to-back games against San Francisco and Pepperdine last week. He shot 50 percent from both the field (11-for-22) and three-point range (5-for-10), and made five of his seven free throws to total 32 points against the Dons and Waves. This is the third time a Torero has won CU1 WCC Freshman of the Week this season, and the second time Patton Jr. has won the award (Dec. 18).
