Oregon State’s Tiara Bolden Named West Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

San Francisco’s Aina Cargol voted West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Oregon State’s Tiara Bolden captured West Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors following standout performances in two games and highlighted by a career-best 25-points in OSU’s win over Illinois on Friday. San Francisco’s Aina Cargol was voted the West Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week with a pair of strong performances for the Dons.
 
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – TIARA BOLDEN, SR., G – OREGON STATE
Bolden, a senior from Eugene, Oregon, averaged 24.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game to lead Oregon State to a pair of wins. The guard shot 65.4 percent from the floor overall, including 45.5 percent from three-point range for the week. In OSU’s 64-59 victory over Illinois on Friday, the guard recorded a career-high 25 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter in the tightly contested game. She also collected six rebounds and added two steals. Bolden was 9-of-14 overall and 2-of-4 from three-point range in the win over the Big Ten foe. In Monday’s 60-49 win over Air Force, Bolden scored 10 of Oregon State’s first 13 points and finished with 23 overall. She shot 8-of-13 from the field and added six rebounds in the win. Bolden is averaging 20.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game this season to lead Oregon State to a 3-0 start to the year.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – AINA CARGOL, G – SAN FRANCISCO
Cargol, from Olot, Spain, averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists for San Francisco in two games this past week. She finished the week shooting 57.9 percent from the floor overall (11-of-19) and 50 percent from three-point range (4-of-8). In just her third collegiate game, she scored 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor with three rebounds and three assists against Seton Hall. Cargol finished the week with 11 points, six rebounds, six assists, a steal and a block in the win over UC San Diego. The Dons split their two contests, with an 80-69 victory over UC San Diego on Sunday and an 80-66 setback to Seton Hall on Friday.
