SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference enjoyed a memorable season in 2025 highlighted by three teams earning bids in the 2025 NCAA Tournament with four-time conference champion San Diego earning the automatic qualifier. The Toreros earned the No. 9 national seed while Portland also garnered at first round bye as the No. 8 seed. Oregon State hosted a first round game, as well.
The West Coast Conference has featured two or more teams in the NCAA Tournament in nine of the last 10 seasons. Portland reached the national quarterfinals for the first time since 2022. The West Coast Conference has featured a team in the quarterfinals in three of the last four seasons and a team in the round of 16 for the last four consecutive campaigns.
Portland fended off Denver in the second round, advancing on penalty kicks. The Pilots defeated Grand Canyon in the next round when Joe Highfield entered the game for the first time with 10 minutes remaining in regulation and netted the eventual game-winning goal. A fluke goal by Furman in the quarterfinals allowed Furman to get past the Pilots. San Diego and Oregon State both fell in their first matches in the tournament.
Portland, San Diego and Oregon State were ranked in the national top-25 rankings all year long, and Portland at one point was ranked No. 1 in the country.
Three West Coast Conference student-athletes garnered United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team honors in Arnau Farnos (Oregon State), Highfield (Portland) and Ethan Warne (San Diego). Farnos was also tabbed the conference's Offensive Player of the Year and Warne as the conference's Defensive Player of the Year.
