SAN BRUNO, Calif. – With a 13-goal weekend, Santa Clara's Riccardo De Simon earned this week's KAP7 West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo Player of the Week, announced by the Conference on Tuesday. Freshman Brian Barnuevo of Pepperdine was also tabbed the KAP7 West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo Newcomer of the Week.
KAP7 WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S WATER POLO PLAYER OF THE WEEK – RICCARDO DE SIMON, SO. – SANTA CLARA
Competing in the Overnght MPSF Invitational in Los Angeles last weekend, Riccardo De Simon led Santa Clara to a 2-2 showing, totaling 13 goals with four multi-goal performances, 11 steals and he dished out six assists. De Simon scored a career-high six goals in the victory against Redlands on Saturday. In the tournament finale, De Simon scored two goals in a tight match against No. 17 UC Santa Barbara, helping the Broncos earn their first victory against the Gauchos in program history. He was also a perfect 10-for-10 in sprint victories, drew nine exclusions and recorded six field blocks.

KAP7 WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S WATER POLO NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – BRIAN BARNUEVO, FR. – PEPPERDINE
After recording at least one goal and one assist across four games at the MPSF Invitational, Brian Barnuevo totaled nine goals and six assists last weekend. In a matchup against No. 16 California Baptist, Barnuevo scored a career-high five goals against the Lancers. Barnuevo also posted four points in a victory against No. 9 Princeton.
