SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara's Riccardo De Simon and Imme van der Schaaf earned this week's KAP7 West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo Player and Newcomer of the Week, respectively, announced by the Conference on Tuesday. These are Santa Clara's second and third conference recognitions of the season.
KAP7 WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S WATER POLO PLAYER OF THE WEEK – RICCARDO DE SIMON, SO. – SANTA CLARA
In a close match with No. 9 UC Davis, sophomore Riccardo De Simon scored four goals, drew four exclusions, garnered three steals and dished out two assists for six points against the Aggies last Saturday. With a penalty goal in the third period, De Simon was able to bring the Broncos within one.
KAP7 WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S WATER POLO NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – IMME VAN DER SCHAAF, FR. – SANTA CLARA
With three goals and an assist for four points against UC Davis, freshman Imme van der Schaaf helped Santa Clara in a close contest against the Aggies. Van der Schaaf also swiped a steal and drew an exclusion in the game on Saturday.
