Ike Wins Men's Basketball Player Of The Week For Third Time This Season

Foxwell and Gavalyugov share the freshman accolades

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – High scoring totals and clutch performances in overtime led to this week's West Coast Conference men's basketball player of the week awards with Gonzaga's Graham Ike winning Player of the Week and a share for Freshman of the Week between Portland's Joel Foxwell and Santa Clara's Sash Gavalyugov.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – GRAHAM IKE, SR., F – GONZAGA
Graham Ike (Aurora, Colo.) finished one point shy of his career high with 34 points in Gonzaga's win over Santa Clara, though his 13 made shots from the field were a career best and the third most in the conference this season. Ike finished 13-for-17 from the field, including 1-for-1 from three-point range, adding 11 rebounds, for his conference-leading 10th double-double of the season. This is Ike's third conference player of the week honor and the fifth for Gonzaga this season.

He averaged 22.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists last week, including a season-high 27 points and seven assists in the win over the Tigers. Foxwell drilled 5 of 6 three-pointers, including a clutch three-pointer in overtime and then assisted on two more three's in the final 20 seconds. Foxwell followed up with 18 points, six assists and two steals against the Beavers on Saturday. This is Foxwell's fifth conference freshman weekly award and he has won the award each of the last two weeks.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S BASKETBALL CO-FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – SASH GAVALYUGOV, FR., G – SANTA CLARA
Sash Gavalyugov (Botevgrad, Bulgaria) tallied 37 points, including a 6-for-12 mark from three-point range, to carry the Broncos to a 103-72 win over LMU on Saturday. The 37 points is the second-most ever scored by a freshman in program history. Additionally, the 37-point outing is tied the second highest of anyone in the conference this season and the most points scored by any player in conference play. Gavalyugov's six treys are the most by a Bronco since Carlos Stewart Jr. drilled six last season against Saint Mary's.
