SAN BRUNO, Calif. - LMU's duo of Ines Piret and Magdalena Rabitsch earned the first West Coast Conference Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week honor of the season after competing against five top-10 opponents.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PAIR OF THE WEEK – INES PIRET, SO., MAGDALENA RABITSCH, JR., LMU
The Lions' pair of Ines Piret and Magdalena Rabitsch competed in the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Classic in Honolulu, Hawai'i last weekend. Over the three days of the tournament, the LMU pair earned three victories on the second court in five matches, all coming against opponents within the top 10 of the AVCA Beach Volleyball Preseason Poll. In the opening game of the season on Thursday against No. 9 California, the pair earned the match's first dual point with a dominant win (21-11, 21-12) to help LMU win the contest. On Friday, the duo earned points in back-to-back matches over No. 1 UCLA and No. 6 Texas, which included winning in straight sets (21-17, 21-17) against the Longhorns and a three-set victory over the Bruins pair (21-16, 18-21, 15-9).
