Three West Coast Conference men’s basketball teams rank in the top 41 in the latest NET rankings - No. 4 Gonzaga, No. 22 Saint Mary’s and No. 41 Santa Clara. In addition, these same teams stand inside the top 41 in the latest WAB rankings - No. 15 Gonzaga, No. 27 Saint Mary’s and No. 41 Santa Clara. Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Championship Bracket To Be Announced Sunday
Seeding information and the bracket for the Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Basketball Championship will be announced Sunday at 10:00 a.m. PT. National Broadcasts On Saturday
West Coast Conference men’s basketball will be featured on national television three times on Saturday, including a CBS Sports Network doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. with Pacific hosting San Francisco followed by Santa Clara hosting Oregon State at 5 p.m. In the final game of the regular season, Saint Mary’s hosts Gonzaga on ESPN at 7:30 p.m.
National Weekly Honors
The West Coast Conference has garnered five USBWA Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week honorees this season, surpassing its 2024-25 season total (4). Graham Ike has earned the recognition twice, while Braden Huff (Gonzaga), Paulius Murauskas (Saint Mary's) and Joel Foxwell (Portland) have also been recognized.
More Notes From Around The Coast
Gonzaga held Portland to less than 50 points as the Bulldogs won, 89-48 on Wednesday. With the victory, the Zags clinched at least a share of the West Coast Conference regular season championship and the No. 1 seed at next week’s conference tournament.
National honors candidate Graham Ike led the way with 19 points, eight rebounds and seven steals. Ike leads the conference with three 30-point games, all in the past 10 games, and he ranks tied for 16th in the nation, and first in the West Coast Conference, with 13 double-doubles this season.
Santa Clara hosts Oregon State looking to end the regular season with another win after setting a program record with 14 conference wins this season. In conference games, Santa Clara ranks No. 6 in scoring offense (86.8 ppg). Santa Clara owns eight Quad 1 and 2 wins combined this season. Five of the Broncos’ seven losses are Quad 1 losses.
SCU’s 23 wins overall this season are tied for the most in the Herb Sendek era. The Broncos are 18-1 this season with scoring 80 or more points.
Saint Mary’s leads the conference in scoring defense (64.4) and ranks seventh in the nation in that category. The Gaels held the Broncos to 67 points on Wednesday. The Gaels are the only team to hold Santa Clara to fewer than 70 points since Dec. 17. Gonzaga also stands in the top 20 nationally in scoring defense, allowing 66.1 ppg.
SMC continues to lead the nation in free throw percentage at .804, the only team shooting better than 80 percent. Individually, Joshua Dent ranks third (.927). Seattle U’s Brayden Maldonado is fourth (.925).
In rebounding margin, Saint Mary’s is No. 5 (11.2) while Gonzaga ranks 12th (8.8). In addition, both teams rank in the top 10 in offensive rebounding percentage allowed - No. 3 Saint Mary’s and No. 8 Gonzaga.
Portland’s Joel Foxwell leads all freshmen nationally and the conference in assists per game (6.5). The standout freshman posted another 20-point performance last Saturday at Seattle U (20 points) before scoring 12 with four rebounds and four steals on Wednesday against Gonzaga.
During Seattle U’s 87-80 win at Pepperdine, Will Heimbrodt not only led the Redhawks with 24 points, but also swatted five blocks. He currently ranks seventh in the nation in blocked shots (2.55).
Five Beavers reached double figures in scoring during Oregon State’s 92-82 win over San Diego. Johan Munch led the team with 19 points while Isaiah Sy notched a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
LMU edged Washington State by one point on Wednesday, 67-66. Myron “MJ” Amey Jr. scored 31 of the Lions’ 67 points, also adding six rebounds, five steals and five assists. He connected on 10 of his 20 shots from the field.
