Foxwell Wins Two Men's Basketball Player Of The Week Awards

Allen Graves wins Co-Freshman of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Guiding Portland to an upset victory over No. 6 Gonzaga last Wednesday, Portland's Joel Foxwell won West Coast Conference Player of the Week and also won Co-Freshman of the Week with Santa Clara's Allen Graves after he posted 30 points as part of the double-double in the Broncos' win at Washington State on Saturday.

Joel Foxwell (Melbourne, Australia) led the Pilots to the best win in school history and a home sweep of No. 6 Gonzaga and Seattle U. In Wednesday's 87-80 win over the Bulldogs, he finished with 27 points, four rebounds and eight assists in 39 minutes. Foxwell shot 11-for-18 from the field and also collected a steal. He battled through cramps in the final minutes against Gonzaga, continuing to battle on the court through the discomfort. In Saturday's 54-53 victory against the Redhawks, he posted five points, eight rebounds, eight assists and two steals. He hit a clutch trey in the final minute to set up the game-winner and tied a season best in rebounds. He averaged 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 1.5 steals over the two games. This is the first time this season Foxwell has won conference Player of the Week, but he now owns six conference Freshman of the Week awards this season.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S BASKETBALL CO-FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – ALLEN GRAVES, FR., F – SANTA CLARA
Allen Graves (Ponchatoula, La.) averaged 21.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.5 assists last week, guiding the Broncos to road victories at Pacific and Washington State, extending the conference's longest current winning streak to eight. Graves recorded a season-best 30 points on 10-for-14 shooting (71.4) to go with a season high-tying 13 rebounds, two steals and four assists against the Cougars. Graves was also clutch at the free throw line, shooting 9-for-10, including a pair inside the final minute to help the Broncos hold off the Cougars for the 96-92 victory. The double-double was Graves' third on the season and his second over the last three games. He began the week with 12 points, eight rebounds and a season-best five steals in the 71-56 win at Pacific. Santa Clara now owns seven conference weekly awards this season, four by Graves and he has won at least a share of Freshman of the Week three of the last four weeks.
