Portland’s Florence Dallow and San Diego’s Olivia Owens Earn Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors

Dallow named conference’s player of the week, Owens honored as league’s freshman of the week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Portland’s Florence Dallow was named West Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after a career performance that included the game-winning bucket in the Pilots’ win over Oregon State. San Diego’s Olivia Owens was named the West Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week after a historic week for the Toreros.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – FLORENCE DALLOW, R-SO., G, – PORTLAND
Florence Dallow (Auckland, New Zealand) matched her career high in points (18) and rebounds (eight) to lead Portland to a 53-50 victory over Oregon State Saturday in the Pilots’ lone game last week. Dallow connected on a three-pointer with 1:05 left to break a 50-50 tie and give Portland the victory. She finished 7-for-12 from the floor (.583) and 3-for-5 from three-point range (.600) in the win. Dallow also added two assists and a steal in the contest as Portland earned its first home victory over Oregon State since 2002. It is Dallow’s first career player of the week recognition.

Also Nominated: Ella Brubaker, Seattle U; Maya Hernandez, LMU; Maia Jones, Santa Clara; Olivia Owens, San Diego; Malia Ruud, Washington State; Abigail Shoff, Saint Mary's; Kennedie Shuler, Oregon State; Sydney Ward, Pacific; Lauren Whittaker, Gonzaga

WEST COAST CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – OLIVIA OWENS, G – SAN DIEGO
Olivia Owens (Columbus, Ohio) averaged 25.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game in San Diego’s two games last week. Against Washington State Thursday, Owens scored a career-high 31 points to go along with 11 rebounds and six assists. She finished 10-for-20 (.500) from the floor and 4-for-7 from three-point range (.571) in the contest. The scoring total was tied for the eighth-most in a game in program history. It was the fifth 30-point performance by a West Coast Conference player in a game this season. She is one of just two conference players to record a double-double with at least 30 points in a game this season (Lauren Whittaker of Gonzaga had 37 points and 14 rebounds in an overtime defeat to Oregon State Jan. 22). Owens followed that performance with a 20-point, 13-rebound, seven-assist effort in Saturday’s win over Seattle U to give her a pair of double-doubles for the week. She has recorded three double-doubles overall this season. Owens’ honor is her first conference weekly recognition.
