No. 2 Gonzaga Handles No. 3 Santa Clara

Bulldogs will play in Tuesday's championship game

LAS VEGAS - No. 2 Gonzaga convincingly defeated No. 3 Santa Clara 88-60 in the semifinals of the Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Women's Basketball Championship from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. 

With the victory, the Bulldogs advance to Tuesday's championship game to play No. 4 seed Oregon State, a rematch of last year's conference tournament semifinal. 

Against the Broncos, West Coast Conference Player and Freshman of the Year Lauren Whittaker just missed a double-double, posting 16 points and nine rebounds. Allie Turner scored 17 points along with four rebounds and four assists. 

Santa Clara was led by 17 points from Ashley Hawkins and 14 from Ava Schmidt and 13 points from Maia Jones. 

The Zags shot 56 percent from the floor, including 64 percent from three-point distance. The Bulldogs dominated inside with a 48-28 points in the paint advantage. Gonzaga outrebounded Santa Clara, 50-32.
