Tandy's Dandy Walk-Off Wins It For Tigers

Pacific advances in the winner's bracket

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Jake Tandy from No. 2 seed Pacific blasted a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Tigers over the Dons, 8-4, in the second round of the 2026 West Coast Conference Baseball Tournament from Scottsdale Stadium in Scottsdale, Ariz. 

With the win, the Tigers will play Saint Mary's in a winner's bracket game on Friday at 2 p.m. The Dons will play Gonzaga on Friday at 10 a.m. in an elimination game. 

USF struck first in the top of the second. Jackson Nystrom started the inning with a double to left-center. He later came around to score thanks to a sacrifice fly by Tyler Harries. 

The Tigers responded quickly in the bottom of the second. Blaine French laced a two-run single to left, scoring Grant McArthur and Braeden Schnabel to give Pacific a 2-1 lead. 

The Dons tied the game in the top of the sixth when Trevor Harmon smacked a solo roundtripper to even the game at two. It marked Harmon's second home run of the tournament after notching a three-run homer in the win over Santa Clara on Wednesday. 

Not to be outdone, Pacific quickly took the lead back in the bottom of the sixth. JT Shank knocked a big two-run homer to right-center to put the Tigers back up by two at 4-2. Schnabel was the Tiger on base as he scored his second run of the night. Schnabel went 3-for-4 on the night. 

The Dons were able to load the bases with two outs in the top of the seventh when the Tigers summoned Regan Carter out of the bullpen. Facing Harmon in his next at-bat after his home run popped out to second to end the Dons' threat. 

USF got one run back in the top of the eighth. After a double by Zack Ramppen, a throwing error by left fielder Blaine French allowed Edison Esquivel to score, cutting the Pacific lead down to 4-3. The Dons were able to tie it up in the ninth inning thanks to an RBI single by TJ Rogers, scoring Isaiah Landry from second. 

The Tigers loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth to set the table for Tandy to end the game with his grand slam. 

Zach Todd gave Pacific a quality outing going six and two-thirds, striking out five batters on five hits and allowing two earned runs.
