SAN BRUNO, Calif. – San Diego swept this week’s conference awards, with Taj Eagleston named the West Coast Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Luca Fava garnering the West Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honor. This marks the Toreros’ second and third weekly WCC honors this season.
 
WEST COAST CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – TAJ EAGLESTON, JR., M – SAN DIEGO
Taj Eagleston scored game-winning goals in a pair of 2-1 wins against UC Irvine and San Diego State as San Diego improved to 5-1-1. Last Tuesday in Irvine, Eagleson slammed a shot off the crossbar before pouncing on the rebound to tally the gamewinner on a half volley in the 55th minute. On Sunday at home against SDSU, he slotted home the deciding goal from the edge of the six-yard box in the 34th minute. The weekly conference award is the first of the season for Eagleston.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – LUCA FAVA, JR., M – SAN DIEGO
Luca Fava assisted on San Diego’s gamewinner against San Diego State and helped to set up the Toreros’ first goal of the game as well. In the 34th minute, Fava’s cross was miscleared into the path of Taj Eagleston, who scored from close range to secure USD’s 2-1 victory. In the 17th minute, Fava’s corner kick was cleared as far as Matteo Salcedo, who settled the ball to allow Iain Wagner to strike from 25 yards out as USD took a 1-0 lead. This is Fava’s first conference weekly award this season.
