Statement From WCC Commissioner Stu Jackson on USD President Jim Harris Concluding Term in 2027

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – West Coast Conference Commissioner Stu Jackson provided the following statement on University of San Diego President Jim Harris announcing the completion of his tenure at the close of the 2026-27 academic year:

“Jim Harris has been an extraordinary leader for the University of San Diego, the West Coast Conference and intercollegiate athletics throughout his 11 years as president of USD. His leadership has been defined by integrity, thoughtful judgment and a genuine commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for students.

The WCC has benefited tremendously from Jim’s leadership as Chair of our Presidents’ Council and as a member of the NCAA Board of Directors. During a time of unprecedented change in college athletics, his wisdom, perspective and steady voice have been invaluable to our Conference and the national landscape.

I am personally grateful for Jim’s counsel, friendship and confidence in me throughout my time as Commissioner. On behalf of the entire WCC, I congratulate Jim on 11 years of exceptional leadership and thank him for his lasting contributions to USD, our Conference and our student-athletes. We look forward to celebrating Jim throughout the remainder of the academic year and wish him and his family the very best in their next chapter.”
