Ryan McCrary joined the West Coast Conference in November of 2013 after spending more than two decades working at member institutions throughout the league. McCrary manages the media relations program and gain exposure for the Conference's 15 sports. In addition, McCrary oversees press row operations at the WCC's highly-publicized basketball championships in Las Vegas and work on publicity efforts and strategic planning for the Conference's new network, TheW.tv.
Most recently, McCrary served as an assistant athletic communications director at Pepperdine University, following a 13-year tenure at the University of San Francisco. While at San Francisco, McCrary spent seven years as an associate media relations director before assuming the role of assistant athletic director for communications. In this role, McCrary launched USF's first social media presence and DonsTV initiatives. As the executive producer of DonsTV, McCrary developed and implemented strategies in building a network of features, highlights and live streaming events.
In addition to college athletics, McCrary covered Major League Baseball for various outlets including ESPN, working as a game day reporter for the San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics. In 10 seasons McCrary covered a World Series, an All-Star Game and several MLB and NFL postseasons.
A Gonzaga graduate, McCrary continued his communications career at the University of San Diego working as an assistant sports information director. Before joining the USD staff, McCrary spent two years as a graduate assistant at Gonzaga working as an events and promotions manager before shifting to sports information.
