SAN BRUNO, Calif. - After completing 27-win regular seasons both ranked West Coast Conference teams were well represented on the 2017-18 All-WCC Basketball Teams as announced Tuesday by the league office. No. 7/7 Gonzaga (27-4, 17-1 WCC) captured its sixth straight regular season title just edging No. 22/20 Saint Mary's (27-4, 16-2 WCC).

Saint Mary's All-American center Jock Landale captured Player of the Year honors for the Gaels, while Mark Few extended his own conference record, capturing his 12th Coach of the Year plaque. Pacific junior center Namdi Okonkwo collected Defensive Player of the Year accolades after propelling the Tigers to their highest league wins tally since rejoining the WCC. Gonzaga's Zach Norvell Jr. captured Newcomer of the Year, becoming the first true freshman to win the award since Santa Clara's Jared Brownridge accomplished the feat in 2013-14.

All four individual awards - along with the All-West Coast Conference Teams and the All-Freshman Team - were voted on by the league's 10 head coaches.

Landale becomes the first Gaels selected as WCC Player of the Year since current Milwaukee Buck Matthew Dellavedova accomplished the feat in 2011-12. A national finalist for the Naismith Trophy, the Oscar Robertson Award and the Wooden Award among others, Landale propelled Saint Mary's to a program-best 19-game winning streak and a top-25 ranking for the second straight season. The Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award finalist averaged 21.5 points, connecting on 64.2% from the field to go along with 10.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots per game. The Australian ranks in the top-20 among Division I national leaders in scoring (19th), field goal percentage (8th), rebounding (18th) and double-doubles (9th/17).

Okonkwo collects the major WCC honor for Pacific since its return to the WCC and is the first Tiger honored since John Gianelli captured 1971 WCC Player of the Year honors. In his first season in Stockton, Okonkwo made an immediate impact in an impressive turnaround for the Tigers, ranking among Division I blocked shots leaders in both average (15th/2.58) and overall (10th/80). The Portland State transfer's 80 swats was the most since Saint Mary's Omar Samhan in 2010 (7th overall) and was second to only San Francisco's Hondre Brewer (55/2001) in blocks during league contests (52). Okonkwo added 5.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in his debut Tiger season.

Norvell Jr. turned in an impressive debut season for the Bulldogs and started 23 games, averaging 11.8 points (including 54 3-pointers) to go along with 3.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. During his first league season, Norvell Jr. averaged 10.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in 17 starts, helping Gonzaga to another regular season title. The redshirt freshman was named to the Julius Erving Award Preseason Watch List and is the third Bulldog in four seasons to collect top newcomer honors. Gonzaga All-American Nigel Williams-Goss was the 2016-17 WCC Player and Newcomer of the Year.

It was yet another record-setting season for Few and Gonzaga. One year removed from the NCAA Championship game, the Bulldogs rolled to a 27-4 regular season - eclipsing 25 victories for the 12th straight season - and secured the program's sixth consecutive regular season WCC title. Gonzaga has now won at least a share of 17 of the last 18 championships. Despite losing two starters to the 2017 NBA draft, Few guided the Bulldogs to a No. 6 ranking in both national polls. The 2017 AP National Coach of the Year is the active NCAA career leader in winning percentage (81.9%) and owns a 530-117 overall record. Few is the only coach in conference history to surpass 200 and 250 league wins, sitting at 260-30 (89.7%).

Of the 10-member All-WCC First Team, six appeared on the 2017-18 preseason All-WCC squad. Landale (Saint Mary's) and Gonzaga's Johnathan Williams (Gonzaga) collect their second first team honor.

With the conclusion of the regular season, WCC teams head to Las Vegas to compete for the 2018 West Coast Conference Basketball Championship. Tournament action tips off Friday, March 2 at the Orleans Arena. This year marks the 10-year "Decade in the Desert" anniversary of the WCC Championship in Las Vegas.
