SAN MATEO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its University Credit Union Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for February 22, 2021.
UCU #WCCSPORTS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – GRACE FROHLING, SO., OPP/S – SAN DIEGO
Grace Frohling has emerged as a strong six-rotation player for San Diego, recording double-doubles in all three of USD’s matches to help the Toreros improve to 6-0. The sophomore opposite collected 40 kills and 35 digs in 11 sets, adding 11 blocks and eight aces to finish the week with 53.5 points. Frohling tallied 13 kills and 11 digs in San Diego’s 3-0 victory over Portland on Feb. 11. She hit at a blazing .455 clip, recording just three errors on 22 swings. Frohling also added five block assists – one shy of her career-high – and four aces to finish the day with 19.5 points. In Tuesday’s series opener with Santa Clara, Frohling again finished with 13 kills and 11 digs for USD. She added an ace and three blocks in the contest to finish with 15.5 points. On Wednesday, Frohling recorded a career-high 13 digs, adding 14 kills in USD’s second 3-1 victory over the Broncos. She added three aces and three block assists for a total of 18.5 points in the contest to help the Toreros sweep the series with SCU.

UCU #WCCSPORTS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – MEG BROWN, FR., MB – PEPPERDINE
Meg Brown propelled the Waves to a pair of WCC wins over Pacific this week, marking a career night in the opener and succeeding in multiple facets of the game throughout. In nine sets over two matches, she posted 1.67 blocks/set, 0.22 digs/set, 2.44 kills/set and 0.11 assists/set for 3.4 points/set overall. She marked 22 kills with only five errors on 48 swings for a .354 success rate, while tabbing 15 total blocks including two solo rejections. She also was good for two digs and an assist and totaled 30.5 points overall. In the four-set win on Tuesday, Brown tallied a career-best 14 kills and eight blocks, including one solo. She marked a .435 clip with only four errors on 23 swings as well. In the five-set thriller on Wednesday, she was good for eight kills with one error on 44 swings for a .182 output and picked up another impressive seven blocks with one solo. She also amassed two digs and one assist in the match that night.
