Gonzaga Sweeps Men's Player Of The Week Honors

SAN MATEO, Calif. – Gonzaga swept WCC Player of the Week honors with junior forward Drew Timme earning his second WCC Player of the Week recognition this season and freshman center Chet Holmgren collecting Freshman of the Week honors for the fifth time during his first season with the Bulldogs. Their efforts propelled the Bulldogs up to No. 1 in this week's AP poll.

Drew Timme made 27 of 32 shots from the field and scored 62 points in a pair of convincing victories for the nation’s new top-ranked team. Timme helped the Bulldogs score a combined 225 points in wins over BYU (110-84) on Thursday and Santa Clara (115-83) on Saturday. Between the two games last week, Timme made 20 consecutive shots from inside the three-point arc. He posted 30 points on Thursday vs. BYU before outdoing himself with 32 against the Broncos on Saturday. He was 13-for-14 from the field against BYU, a 92.9 shooting percentage. He now boasts three 30-point performances this season. Timme also amassed 13 rebounds, five assists and two blocks in last week's games. Timme currently ranks second in the WCC in points per game (18.6) and his 65.5 field goal percentage paces the league.

#WCCSPORTS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – CHET HOLMGREN, FR., C – GONZAGA
For the fifth time this season, Chet Holmgren took home WCC Freshman of the Week accolades. In Gonzaga's two dominating victories this week, Holmgren tallied 11.5 ppg, 19 rebounds, seven blocks and two steals. His efforts helped the Zags score a combined 225 points in wins over BYU (110-84) on Thursday and Santa Clara (115-83) on Saturday. In Thursday's clash against the Cougars, Holmgren posted 12 points and seven rebounds, and made his presence felt defensively with five blocks and two steals. Against the Broncos on Saturday, Holmgren earned a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Among WCC leaders, Holmgren is the league's leading rebounder (8.5 rpg) and ranks third in field goal percentage (61.1).
