SAN MATEO, Calif. – Santa Clara's Lindsey VanAllen return from injury propelled her to garner WCC Player of the Week honors for the first time this season, while Gonzaga's Bree Salenbien secured WCC Freshman of the Week honors for the first time this season, as well.

Making her first appearance on the court since Dec. 14 due to injury, VanAllen returned with a career-high 27 points against Pepperdine on Thursday. She topped that two days later with 28 against San Francisco. Her efforts helped the Broncos improve to 8-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play. VanAllen shot 7-for-14 last weekend from behind the arc, and amassed six rebounds and two steals. She currently ranks third in the league with her 17.0 ppg average. VanAllen made her presence felt in the third quarter against USF as the Broncos found themselves trailing by seven with five minutes left in the period. VanAllen then scored 11, including a pair of 3-pointers, to put Santa Clara on top for good at the 2:30 mark.

#WCCSPORTS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – BREE SALENBIEN, FR., G – GONZAGA
Bree Salenbien led Gonzaga during its 92-51 win over Pacific with a career-best 14 points, shooting 4-for-4 from beyond the arc in only 14 minutes of play. Her efforts marked the first time the Bulldogs reached 90 points since Nov. 10, 2019, against Cal State Bakersfield. In the following game against San Diego, Salenbien netted a three-pointer to swing momentum in GU's favor. She went 5-for-6 from the three-point line and averaged 8.5 points per game last week.
