Portland Sweeps UCU WCC Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

Gurman Sangha named WCC Offensive Player of the Week, George Tasouris tabbed WCC Defensive Player of the Week

SAN MATEO, Calif. – Portland swept the University Credit Union West Coast Conference men’s soccer weekly awards on Monday, as forward Gurman Sangha was named the UCU WCC Offensive Player of the Week and goalkeeper George Tasouris was tabbed the UCU WCC Defensive Player of the Week.  
 
UCU WCC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – GURMAN SANGHA, SR., F – PORTLAND
Sangha netted the game-winning score, as No. 9 Portland earned a 1-0 victory at San Francisco on Saturday night. He found the back of the net in the 65th minute against the Dons, recording his third goal of the year as the Pilots remain unbeaten on the season.
 
Also Nominated: Cesar Bahena, San Diego, and Demitrius Kigeya, Gonzaga.
 
UCU WCC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – GEORGE TASOURIS, SR., GK – PORTLAND
Tasouris anchors one of the top defenses in the nation, as the goalkeeper recorded his third shutout of the season on Saturday in the Pilots’ 1-0 victory at San Francisco. He made a crucial save against the Dons to preserve the shutout. Portland has allowed one goal or less in each of its last nine matches.
 
The Pilots are unbeaten in 11 matches this season at 8-0-3. With the Pilot women defeating Pepperdine on Saturday, Portland remains the only program in the nation with undefeated men's and women’s soccer teams.
