SAN MATEO, Calif. – LMU’s Diego Baqueiro picked up the Lions’ first WCC weekly honor this season as he was tabbed the Conference’s Player of the Week. Gonzaga’s Gabriel Hughes garnered his third WCC Pitcher of the Week honor this week, as well.
#WCCSPORTS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – DIEGO BAQUEIRO, SO., INF – LMU
Diego Baqueiro hit .571 with a .630 OPB and 1.000 slugging percentage lifting the Lions to three wins, including two in WCC games. Baqueiro posted 10 RBI, with at least one in each game he played, and three in both non-conference games at UNLV. Along with his 12 hits, three doubles, and two home runs, Baqueiro boasted multi-hit games in all five outings and, in each individual game, he was .500 or better from the plate. Baqueiro secured both an RBI double and a two-run home run in the ninth inning alone in LMU's comeback win over UNLV.

#WCCSPORTS PITCHER OF THE WEEK – GABRIEL HUGHES, SO. – GON
Gabriel Hughes was stellar once again in picking up his sixth win of the season, matching a career-high of 13 strikeouts while holding Saint Mary’s scoreless over seven frames. In that span, he was tagged for only four hits and two walks while leading the Zags to their fourth shutout victory of the season. Hughes previously earned WCC Pitcher of the Week honors on March 7 and 21.
