SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – WCC Individual Champion Rosina Machu of Gonzaga was named the 2023 West Coast Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year, while Marty Kinsey of Saint Mary's won WCC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year.
The Conference recognizes the Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Year and WCC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year in a vote of each of the Conference’s head coaches at the conclusion of the NCAA cross country season for all programs.
Kinsey captured WCC Coach of the Year honors for the first time in his career. He guided the Gaels to their highest WCC Championship finish (3rd) and team score (89) in 32 years. For the first time since 1990, Saint Mary's had three women finish in the top 13.
Machu earned All-America honors for the first time in her career with her 16th-place finish in the NCAA Championships. Prior to that race, Machu won the 2023 WCC Individual Championship, which included All-WCC First Team honors for the first time in her career. She earned WCC Women’s Runner of the Week honors three times during the campaign, as well.
