SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Keeping the LMU goal nearly spotless, Massimo Oedekoven Pomponi won University Credit Union West Coast Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Jacob Babalai from Portland won University Credit Union WCC Offensive Player of the Week after notching three goals last weekend.

Babalai picked up Conference offensive player of the week honors for the second time this season after he scored three goals in two matches, including a brace against CSUN, his second of the season. One of his goals against CSUN was the game winner.

UNIVERSITY CREDIT UNION WCC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – MASSIMO OEDEKOVEN POMPONI, SR., GK – LMU
Pomponi has not allowed a goal from the run of play in three consecutive matches. The only goal scored came on a first-half penalty shot against Cal State Fullerton, a match in which he went on to record seven more saves. He garnered a clean sheet in the 2-0 win at Oregon State, saving a penalty shot in the 45th minute to keep LMU ahead going into halftime. Pomponi ended up facing 20 total shots against Oregon State, recording six saves. He earned 13 total saves over the week. This is LMU's first men's soccer Conference weekly honor in 2023.
