USD And OSU Earn Bids In The 2024 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference earned two bids in the 2024 NCAA Tournament as three-time WCC Champion San Diego earned the automatic qualifier. Both the Toreros and at-large selection Oregon State will host first-round matchups. Both first-round contests will be played on Thursday, Nov. 21, and second-round games will be played on Sunday, Nov. 24.

The WCC has featured two or more teams in the NCAA Tournament in eight of the last nine seasons.

USD (13-2-2) hosts UC Davis in the first round. The Toreros are 3-2-3 all-time against the Aggies. These teams last met in 2022, ending in a scoreless draw. The last time USD was victory over UC Davis was a 1-0 victory in 2019. If San Diego advances, the Toreros will fly east to face No. 10 seed Duke in the second round. San Diego is 0-2-1 all-time against Duke with a 2-2 draw taking place earlier this season. The Toreros are returning to the tournament after defeating LMU last Saturday to claim a third straight WCC Championship. USD shared the title with Santa Clara last season after winning it outright in 2022.

Oregon State (10-4-3) hosts Gardner Webb in the first round. If the Beavers advance, they will play No. 3 seed Denver in the second round. This will mark the first all-time meeting between Oregon State and Gardner Webb. The Beavers are 3-2 all-time against Denver, with all three wins taking place in Corvallis. In 2014, OSU and Denver met in the NCAA Tournament, a game the Beavers won, 1-0. OSU looks to go on a run similar to last season when the Beavers advanced to the NCAA College Cup.

The WCC owns five national championships in men's soccer, four by San Francisco and one by Santa Clara in 1989. Two of the four championships for the Dons came back-to-back in 1975 and 1976. This year's bids are the 103rd and 104th in Conference history.

The 2024 NCAA Men's Soccer College Cup will take place from Dec. 13-16 from WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
