SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Career highs in scoring from Tess Heal of Santa Clara and Zeryhia Aokuso of Saint Mary's led to the pair winning the final Credit Union 1 WCC Women's Basketball Players of the Week honors of the 2023-24 season, the league announced on Monday. Heal was named the Player of the Week, while Aokuso was named the Freshman of the Week.
CREDIT UNION 1 WCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – TESS HEAL, SO., G – SANTA CLARA
Tess Heal dropped a career-high 40 points and added seven assists as Santa Clara defeated Pacific, 85-77, last Saturday for its ninth win in a row. Heal became one of 15 student-athletes in Division I women's basketball to score 40 points or more this season. She is tied with Jasmine Gayles of San Francisco for the highest WCC single-game total in points this season. Heal had a double-double in the 86-45 win over LMU last Thursday. She scored 15 points and dished out ten assists in 27 minutes. This is the sixth time Heal has won Credit Union 1 WCC Player of the Week honors this season, tied for a Conference best.

CREDIT UNION 1 WCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – ZERYHIA AOKUSO, G – SAINT MARY'S
Seven-time Credit Union 1 WCC Freshman of the Week Zeryhia Aokuso capped the final week of her first regular season with another big week. Aokuso scored a career-high 28 points last Thursday against San Francisco. She followed that performance up with 15 points, four assists, three steals, and three rebounds in the win over Pepperdine last Saturday. Aokuso has won Credit Union 1 WCC Freshman of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, while the Gaels have earned the honor for the third-straight week (Maia Jones, Feb. 19). Aokuso captured the weekly honor seven times this season.
