Gonzaga Voted Women's Cross Country WCC Preseason Poll Favorite

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Gonzaga is the West Coast Conference preseason favorite to win the WCC Women's Cross Country Championship as announced by the Conference on Friday.

The preseason poll and the All-WCC preseason team were selected solely by a vote of the conference’s 11 head coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own team and student-athletes.

Gonzaga led the coaches preseason poll with 76 points and seven first-place votes. The Bulldogs had the most runners on the All-WCC preseason team with four, including last year's WCC individual champion and WCC Runner of the Year, All-American Rosina Machu.

Portland finished second in the preseason poll with 70 points while Oregon State was third (50 points). The Pilots and Beavers rounded out the first-place votes, each earning two.

Portland had three runners on the preseason team while OSU claimed two of the preseason spots, and Washington State secured the final selection.

The 2024 WCC Women’s Cross Country Championship will be held Saturday, November 2, hosted by Pacific at Micke Grove Golf Links in Lodi, Calif.
