WCC Men's Soccer Round Up - Sept. 25

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - West Coast Conference men's soccer begins Conference action this week after five teams earned three or more wins during non-conference play, led by two-time defending WCC champion San Diego and Gonzaga with their six wins.

The Bulldogs came out victorious after upsetting then-No. 9 Seattle, 2-1, on the road. Defending College Cup qualifer Oregon State also played into a 2-2 deadlock against Seattle.

In The Rankings
The Toreros are the WCC's lone team in the top-25 polls, coming in this week at No. 15. USD sports an overall record of 6-1-2, with the Bulldogs right behind them at 6-2-2. 

This Week in the WCC
In the last portion of nonconference play, Oregon State treks to Utah Valley to take on the Wolverines, Pacific plays host to Cal State Bakersfield on Wednesday, and Portland has a home matchup against Sacramento State. 

Conference action is on the horizon this weekend. Gonzaga and Saint Mary's head south to square off against LMU and defending co-champion San Diego, respectively, while Santa Clara hosts last year's national semifinalist Oregon State on Saturday. To round out the weekend slate, Pacific heads west to take on San Francisco.

Stat Leaders
San Diego leads the Conference in numerous catergories, namely scoring average and scoring margin. The Toreros have scored 2.22 goals per game and have only given up .78 goals per game.

Chris Swider of Gonzaga and Samy Kanaan of San Diego lead the league with five goals across 10 games. Oregon State's Fabian Straudi leads the way in the assist department, collecting four assists in six total matches. On the back end, Joshua Moya has been a force in goal for Pacific, totaling 32 saves and a .865 save pct, which both lead the WCC.
