West Coast Conference Men's Soccer Round Up - Oct. 22

San Francisco battles Stanford Wednesday night

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - This week in West Coast Conference men's soccer kicks off with a big non-conference matchup as San Francisco treks to the South Bay to face No. 1 Stanford on the road.

West Coast Conference men's soccer continues to feature three of the top programs in the country. In the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, Portland checks in at No. 5, while San Diego is not far behind at No. 12 and Oregon State remains in the top 25 at No. 21.

Pilots Remain One Of The Best In The Nation 
Dating back to last season, Portland is unbeaten in its last 23 games, a program record and the second longest streak in the nation. The Pilots are unbeaten through the first 13 games this season for the first time since 2018. The Pilots have only allowed six goals this season and were the third to last D1 team to allow a goal. The Pilots rank tied for fourth in the nation in goal differntial (+27). Portland is also second in the nation in points per game (8.62), including a league-high 34 goals. 

San Diego currently stands in second place with 10 points. 

This week, Portland heads to the Bay Area to play Santa Clara on Saturday at 7 p.m.

San Diego Keeps Playing At An Elite Level 
San Diego has won three of its last four. Both of the Toreros' losses this season have come against high-ranked teams in No. 6 Portland and No. 15 Duke. The Toreros are outscoring opponents in conference play, 12-3. 

This week, San Diego heads to the Bay Area to play at Saint Mary's on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Farnos Leads The Way For Oregon State 
Oregon State is tied for first place with Portland in the conference standings with 11 points. The Beavers are unbeaten at home this season (4-0-1) with the tie coming against the Pilots.  One of the top scorers in the nation Arnau Farnos paces the league in goals (10) and points (25). He also ranks tied for eighth in the nation in goals and seventh in points.  Most recently, Farnos and the Beaver offense powered past Gonzaga, 5-4 last week. 

Oregon State plays at Seattle U on Saturday night. 

This Week 
Following the Dons' stiff test at Stanford on Wednesday night, they return home on Sunday to host LMU at 1 p.m.
