Gonzaga’s Ike And Nembhard Named To USBWA Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List

Zags also on watch lists for Wooden and Naismith awards

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Graham Ike and Ryan Nembhard from Gonzaga men's basketball have been named to the midseason watchlist for the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Oscar Robertson Trophy as announced by the organization on Monday. The Bulldogs are two of 50 student-athletes named to the midseason watchlist.

Ike and Nembhard are also on watch lists for numerous other prominent national awards including the John R. Wooden Award and the Naismith Player of the Year award. 
 
Thanks to the efforts of Nembhard, Gonzaga features the nation’s top-ranked assist-to-turnover ratio and also ranks No. 1 in assists per game (19.8 apg). Nembhard is No. 1 in the nation in assists, averaging 9.8 per game. He has posted double-digit assist totals in 14 games this season. He also boasts 10 doubles-doubles, which leads the WCC and ranks tied for 11th in the nation. 

Ike ranks fourth in the WCC in scoring, averaging 17.6 ppg. He has reached the 20-point scoring plateau 11 times this season, including a current stretch of scoring 20 points or more in five of the last six games. He collected 28 points when the Bulldogs battled Kentucky on Dec. 7. He has also collected four double-doubles. Ike also ranks ninth in the WCC in rebounding, averaging 7.2 rebounds per game. 
 
The Oscar Robertson Trophy winner will be announced at the NCAA Men's Final Four in San Antonio from April 5-7. The formal presentation of the trophy will follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. A final watch list will be released in early March and those chosen will be included on the USBWA's annual awards ballot.
