SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Gonzaga standouts Yvonne Ejim, Maud Huijbens and Allie Turner were named honorable mention All-Americans by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The Zags join LSU, NC State and Notre Dame as one of only four programs in the nation with three student-athletes recognized as All-Americans by the WBCA.
Ejim, a two-time West Coast Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, is recognized as a WBCA All-American for the second consecutive year. She was also named an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American for the second straight year. Ejim completed her Gonzaga career as the program’s all-time leader in scoring, rebounding and field goals made. The forward finished second in career scoring in West Coast Conference history (all games) with 2,385 career points and third on the WCC’s career rebounding list with 1,140 career rebounds. She was one of five players this season with at least 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.
Turner was the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year and earned First Team All-West Coast Conference honors. She leads all freshmen and is tied for seventh nationally with 105 three-point field goals made. The 105 three-point field goals made is a program record and is one shy of the West Coast Conference single-season record (106 by Taycee Wedin of Saint Mary’s in 2022). Her 3.0 three-point field goals made per game average is first among freshmen and ranks ninth nationally overall. Turner shot .457 from three-point range, which leads all freshmen and ranks fifth nationally. The freshman’s 57 three-point field goals in conference play ranked fourth on the WCC’s single-season list. Turner, who started 32 contests, completed her freshman season with a 13.4 points per game scoring average.
Huijbens was a West Coast Conference Honorable Mention selection, averaging 9.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest in 22 starts for the Zags. She ranked eighth in the West Coast Conference in rebounding overall. Her 7.2 rebounds per game during conference action was seventh-best in the West Coast Conference.
Gonzaga, the West Coast Conference regular season co-champions, advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament. The Bulldogs finished the season 24-11 overall with a 17-3 mark in the West Coast Conference.
