West Coast Conference Announces 2025 Women's Cross Country Preseason Honors

Gonzaga earned eight first-place votes to take first

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Picking up eight first-place votes, Gonzaga was picked first in the 2025 West Coast Conference Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll as the conference announced its preseason honors Thursday.

The preseason poll and the all-conference preseason team were selected solely by a vote of the conference’s 12 head coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own team and student-athletes.

The Bulldogs took first with 118 points, while Washington State came in second with 106 points and two first-place votes. Portland was next in third with 94 points, while San Francisco was right behind the Pilots in fourth with 92 points, but also garnered the remaining two first-place votes.

Gonzaga led the way with three preseason team honorees. Oregon State, San Francisco and Washington State each heard its name called twice on the preseason squad and Portland boasted one honoree.

Sage Brooks (OSU), Zenah Cheptoo (WSU), Willow Collins (GON), Jessica Frydenlund (GON), Kate Laurent (OSU) and Maebh Richardson (POR) were repeat all-conference preseason team honorees.

The 2025 West Coast Conference Women’s Cross Country Championship will be held Saturday, November 1, hosted by Gonzaga at The Plains Golf Course in Spokane, Wash.
