SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Kennedie Shuler (Gresham, Ore.) of Oregon State was named a U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week, the group announced Tuesday.

Shuler, who was also named the West Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, nearly recorded a triple double in leading Oregon State to a 92-87 overtime victory over Gonzaga last Thursday in a matchup of conference leaders. Shuler finished with 17 points, 10 steals and nine assists. The junior guard also contributed five rebounds and three blocks in the win. Shuler was the first West Coast Conference player to record at least 10 steals in a game since Haiden Palmer’s 10-steal performance on March 23, 2013.

Shuler is one of four West Coast Conference players since at least the 1999-2000 season to record a double-double with points and steals. The other three players to record a double-double with steals are Amanda Rego of San Diego (10 points, 10 steals and 10 assists vs. San Francisco on Feb. 9, 2008), Courtney Vandersloot of Gonzaga (20 points, 11 steals vs. South Dakota State on Nov. 13, 2009) and Haiden Palmer of Gonzaga (14 points and 10 steals vs. Iowa State on March 23, 2013).

The guard is one of four players in the country since at least the 1999-2000 season to record at least 10 steals and at least three blocks in a game.

Shuler ranks second in the conference and 14th nationally in total assists (120) and second in the league and 19th nationally assists per game (5.7 apg). She is also third in the conference in steals (45), steals per game (2.1 spg) and assist/turnover ratio (1.74). The guard ranks eighth in the league in blocks per game (1.05 bpg).

Oregon State’s victory over Gonzaga, gave the Beavers sole possession of first place in the West Coast Conference standings with a 7-1 league mark at the midpoint of the conference schedule. The Beavers are 15-6 overall.

The West Coast Conference was also recognized in the USBWA’s national weekly honors earlier this season, as Gonzaga’s Lauren Whittaker was named the first USBWA Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Week on Dec. 23, 2025.
