SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Graham Ike (Aurora, Colo.) from Gonzaga has been named an Oscar Robertson Men’s Basketball National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, the group announced on Tuesday.
This is the second time this season that Ike has garnered USBWA Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week recognition. In addition to the national recognition, Ike also collected West Coast Conference Player of the Week accolades this week.
Ike recorded his sixth and seventh straight 20-point games, matching his career-best, in wins over Washington State and at Santa Clara last week. The win over the Broncos propelled Gonzaga back into first place in the West Coast Conference standings. After scoring 20 points and grabbing seven rebounds against the Cougars, Ike boasted 21 points and 15 rebounds in the victory at Santa Clara. Ike shot 72 percent from the field in the wins combined (18-of-25). He also added seven assists total and a block in both games.
The Bulldog is one of five national honorees along with Nick Boyd (Wisconsin), Mikel Brown Jr. (Louisville), Darin Smith Jr. (Central Connecticut) and JT Toppin (Texas Tech).
The West Coast Conference has now surpassed its 2024-25 season total (4) of USBWA weekly national honorees with five on the season - Ike (twice), Braden Huff (Gonzaga), Paulius Murauskas (Saint Mary's) and Joel Foxwell (Portland).
The USBWA's national player of the week program has been affiliated with the Oscar Robertson Trophy since the 2009-10 season. Prior to the 2024-25 season, the USBWA had recognized just one player each week. Each Tuesday during the regular season, designated USBWA board members select five standouts from the 31 Division I conference players of the week to be recognized. The selections are chosen from a list of the conferences that named a player of the week on Monday.
