LAS VEGAS - No. 7 seed Seattle U had a chance to tie or take the lead in the final seconds but No. 6 Pacific held on with a 61-58 win in the third round of the Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Championship from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
The Tigers advance to the quarterfinals against No. 3 seed Santa Clara on Sunday at 8 p.m.
Elias Ralph led Pacific with 15 points. The all-conference first team honoree added seven rebounds and three assists. TJ Wainwright hit from behind the arc three times, finishing with three points.
As it has been all season long, Pacific was strong on the boards against Seattle U, outrebounding the Redhawks, 40-34.
For Seattle U, Jun Seok Yeo led the way with 16 points and seven rebounds. One of the nation's leaders in blocks, Will Heimbrodt swatted away four more blocks against Pacific. Heimbrodt also scored 12 points and secured six rebounds.
Both of the men's games in the Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Basketball Championship will be televised on ESPN2 on Sunday.
