Pacific And West Coast Conference Mourn Unexpected Passing Of Baseball Head Coach Reed Peters

Thursday evening, the Pacific athletic department was saddened to learn about the passing of baseball head coach Reed Peters, following a courageous battle with illness. The West Coast Conference was devastated to learn the news Friday morning.

"No amount of words could possibly convey the tremendous sadness we all feel at the passing of Coach Peters. Our thoughts and prayers are with Audrey, Cade, Beau, Drew, and the entire Peters family," Pacific Athletic Director Adam Tschuor said.

"Reed was with us for only two seasons, but his impact will forever be felt. When we first met, he promised to take the Tigers to new heights, and he did just that with our finest WCC performance to date, our best year this decade, and one of our highest-achieving seasons ever. He will be greatly missed, and we shall all continue to strive to ensure the program lives up to what he built."

"The unexpected passing of Coach Peters is a tragic loss for the University of the Pacific and all who had the privilege of knowing him," said West Coast Conference Commissioner Stu Jackson. "Our hearts go out to the Stockton community. Reed made such a tremendous impact throughout his career at Pacific and San Joaquin Delta College. His passing will be deeply felt throughout the collegiate athletics community. Our thoughts and prayers are with Reed's family and friends, the Pacific baseball program and the Pacific athletic department."

Peters' club had just completed a 15-11-1 conference season that led the program to its first-ever West Coast Conference Tournament appearance. Pacific competed as the No. 2 seed and delivered the conference's first tournament victory with a walk-off grand slam over San Francisco.

During his tenure leading the Tigers, Peters produced the first 20-win season of the decade in his first season and followed it up with a 24-win season in 2026 for the most single-season wins since 2014 and the first back-to-back 20-win seasons since 2018-19.

Peters was a constant in the Stockton community, leading nearby San Joaquin Delta College for 17 seasons before coming over to Pacific. During his time at Delta, Peters built the baseball program into one of the best JuCo programs in the country, sending hundreds of players to four-year colleges and universities as well as numerous players into the MLB Draft.

Our prayers and condolences go out to the Peters family and the Pacific athletic department.
