PORTLAND, Ore. - Jason Krohn (baseball) and Julie Elliott (women's track & field) have been named University of Portland Male and Female Athletes of the Month for March.

Krohn, a senior from Gresham, Ore., led the Pilots with eight multi-hit games during the month. The transfer from Coastal Carolina University batted .362 with 11 runs scored, 21 hits, two doubles, two home runs, and seven runs batted in in 15 games played. Krohn also nabbed three bases in three attempts while sporting an on-base percentage of .431 and a slugging percentage of .500.

Elliott, a senior from Eugene, Ore., earned her second consecutive Athlete of the Month award after being named All-American at the 2005 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. She finished ninth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-10?. She then started the outdoor season on a winning note, entering three events at the Oregon Preview on March 19 and earning wins in both the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump. At the Cal Multi Event on March 24, she she won the high jump (5-9?, qualifying her for the 2005 West Regionals) en route to a fourth place finish in the heptathlon (4973 points).
