SAN BRUNO, Calif. - For the second time this season, University of Portland senior forward Christine Sinclair has been named the West Coast Conference women's soccer player of the week. Sinclair led the Pilots to a pair of road victories last weekend while tallying five goals, including both game-winners, in wins over No. 21 Texas and Baylor.
Sinclair accounted for five of Portland's six goals in yet another dominating offensive display. After netting both goals in a 2-1 win over Texas, she came back to record her fifth career hat trick with three strikes in a 4-1 win at Baylor.
Her 16 goals on the season and 35 total points both top their respective charts nationally, while her 87 career goals ties her for second-place all-time in UP history with Shannon MacMillan (1992-95). Sinclair is also one point away from becoming the third Pilot in history to amass 200 points, joining MacMillan and Tiffeny Milbrett (1990-92, 94). Her 30 career game-winners are tops in UP history.
Sinclair has now earned 10 WCC Player of the Week awards throughout her career on The Bluff.
The Pilots return to the Merlo Field pitch this Friday, Sept. 23 to host the Arizona Wildcats at 7 p.m.
