Sarah Mandala of the USF Volleyball team led the Dons to a 2-0 weekend as San Francisco continued its strong run through WCC action with a perfect 7-0 record. Mandala opened the weekend with a match-high 12 kills on .591 hitting as well as three assists, three digs and three blocks as the Dons swept Loyola Marymount. Against No. 15 Pepperdine, Mandala recorded 17 kills on .407 hitting with one assist, two service aces, five digs and five blocks. Overall on the week, Mandala recorded a team-high 32 kills, averaging 4.57 per set, on .490 hitting. She recorded four assists, two service aces, eight digs (1.14 per set) and eight blocks (1.14 per set).

Sophie Schmidt scored both game-winners and tallied three goals in road wins over San Francisco (2-0) and Saint Mary's (3-0) this weekend. She scored both goals against San Francisco and then tallied the fastest goal of the 2008 season for Portland with a strike 46 seconds into the run of play on Sunday at SMC. Schmidt has now scored seven goals in the last seven matches. Portland extended its winning streak to 14 matches.

Leon Williams had a four point performance in the home and home series against Santa Clara. He was created scoring chances, but more importantly blocked four Santa Clara shot attempts, three of them at point blank range at the mouth of the goal. In the next game, Williams Williams scored the game-winner in the Dons' 3-1 come-from-behind victory. It was his second goal of the season and both of them decisive. For the weekend, Williams finished with seven shots.
