When the West Coast Conference first got its start back in 1952, the founders really had only one goal in mind...to create a convenient way for five Bay Area schools to play basketball. Now, 57 years later, the WCC is a marvelously cohesive athletics league, which is competitive at the national level in 13 sports. In its 30th year under the current eight-team alignment, the WCC has been a model of consistency and stability in the ever-changing landscape of collegiate athletics.

The WCC's eight member institutions - Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Portland, Saint Mary's, San Diego, San Francisco, and Santa Clara - are brought together by core values that extend beyond the athletic competition field. An unwavering commitment to academics, faith, and making a positive impact on the world through the education of tomorrow's leaders are just a few of the principles that have united the WCC within, while also distinguishing it among its peer conferences.
