SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for December 3, 2018.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JOSH PERKINS, SR., G – GONZAGA
Senior guard Josh Perkins guided the No. 1/1 Zags to a pair of wins, including at Creighton in Gonzaga’s first true road game of the season. The redshirt senior dished out 19 assists in the two games, including a career-high 13 in front of nearly 19,000 fans in Omaha. The 13 assists matched the second-most in a single game in program history, and were the most by a Zag since Derek Raivio tossed out 13 versus Montana on Nov. 21, 2004.
Perkins dished out six assists with one turnover in a win over North Dakota State Monday. He totaled 23 points for the week. Along with his 13 assists, the Park Hill, Colo., native scored 13 points at Creighton for the double-double. Perkins still leads the country with 69 assists, and tops the West Coast Conference averaging 8.63 per game. He only has 17 turnovers to his 69 assists, including only two this week, with one in each game.
Perkins moved past Kevin Pangos for fifth all-time in program history with 547 assists in his career, eight away from passing John Stockton for sole possession of fourth. Perkins averaged 11.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 9.5 assists and 1.5 steals for Gonzaga and posted a turnover/assist ratio of 9.5.
