Rawlings Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for February 24, 2020.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE RAWLINGS PITCHER OF THE WEEK – COOPER CHANDLER, SO., RHP – PEPPERDINE
Sophomore righthander Cooper Chandler took a no-hitter into the eighth inning on Saturday. The junior from Tyler, Texas struck out 10, walked just one and gave up just one hit. His game score of 89 was the second-best in the country on Saturday, and he picked up his second win of the season.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE RAWLINGS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – THOMAS LUEVANO, SR., INF – SAN DIEGO
Senior infielder Thomas Luevano went 7-for-17 including a double and two home runs to help the Toreros finish week two, 4-0. The graduate transfer scored six runs and drove in seven more, posting a .824 slugging percentage and a .474 on-base percentage in four games.
On Tuesday, Luevano went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and a solo homer in San Diego’s 9-1 victory over UC Irvine. Luevano score twice for the Toreros and finished the day with four RBIs.
In the first game of the Tony Gwynn Legacy Tournament, Luevano registered an RBI single in USD’s dramatic comeback win over Nebraska, 12-11. The following day he went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in San Diego’s 6-2 win over Seattle U. He wrapped up the weekend with a 2-for-3 performance, scoring three times for the Toreros including a two-run homer in the fifth inning of USD’s 10-5 victory over Iowa.
