San Francisco’s Pham (Pitcher), Pepperdine’s Malinchak (Player) Take Rawlings WCC Weekly Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Rawlings Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for March 9, 2020. 
 
ALEX PHAM JR., RHP – SAN FRANCISCO
Junior righthander Alex Pham made three appearances during the week, closing down three San Francisco victories while going 1-0 with a save and just one run allowed all week.
 
He threw four innings of relief on the road at California on Friday, earning a save and helping the Dons secure a 4-1 series-opening victory. He struck out four and didn't walk any while only giving up two hits in that outing. He earned his third win of the year (3-0) on Sunday when he threw two scoreless innings in the ninth and 10th. He struck out four again and only allowed one hit. Tuesday, he threw a scoreless ninth to wrap up the Dons' 8-2 win over Mount St. Mary's.
 
He held opponents to just a .115 batting average and carried a 4-to-1 strikeouts-to-walks ratio while only allowing one run during the week (1.29 ERA).

WEST COAST CONFERENCE RAWLINGS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – MIKE MALINCHAK, JR., OF – PEPPERDINE
Junior outfielder Mike Malinchak hit a blistering .750 on the weekend against #16 Michigan (9-for-12). The junior from Delray Beach, Fla. also drove in nine runs, including a solo blast in Saturday's second game, helping the Waves take the series against last year's national runner up.
